Counselling
I am an EMDR Therapist specialising in trauma-informed counselling. My work is grounded in the understanding that trauma lives in both the mind and the body, and that healing occurs when the nervous system feels safe, supported, and regulated. I integrate Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) with other trauma-responsive psychological approaches to support recovery at your pace.
“Safety is the foundation on which all healing begins.”
Stephen Porges
Trauma counselling offers a confidential and compassionate space where your experiences are met with respect and without judgement. Therapy is collaborative and relational, recognising that healing happens within a safe and attuned therapeutic relationship. You remain in control of the process, with choice, consent, and emotional safety prioritised at every stage.
My approach is holistic and trauma-informed, guided by curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for your lived experience. Together, we work to understand how trauma has shaped your beliefs, emotions, relationships, and sense of self. Therapy may support you to:
- Process traumatic memories in a safe and contained way
- Reduce the emotional intensity of past experiences
- Regulate distressing states such as anxiety, fear, shame, or overwhelm
- Understand the impact of trauma on your nervous system and relationshipsBuild resilience, self-trust, and a greater sense of stability
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that supports the brain’s natural healing capacity. It allows traumatic memories to be processed without the need to repeatedly retell or relive events in detail. Over time, memories that once felt overwhelming can become less distressing and more integrated, freeing you to engage more fully in the present.
My practice is grounded in Trauma-Informed Principles, with safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment at its core. I aim to create a therapeutic space where you feel genuinely heard, emotionally safe, and supported to move at your own pace.
Strongly influenced by Humanistic and Attachment-informed therapy, I believe that healing occurs within a secure and authentic relationship. Even when the impact of trauma feels confusing or difficult to name, therapy can help bring understanding, regulation, and meaningful change.
Trauma therapy is not about revisiting the past for its own sake—it is about restoring a sense of safety, connection, and choice, and supporting you to move toward a more integrated and fulfilling life.
