Supervision

Working in the trauma field is deeply meaningful, yet inherently demanding. Practitioners are often exposed to complex challenges such as moral injury, vicarious trauma and the emotional weight of supporting others. Whether  it is  navigating family support, domestic violence, and child protection, or holding space for grief, loss, and vulnerability, the work can profoundly affect those who provide care.

“We learn not so much from experience, but from reflecting on experience.”

John Dewey

For those in leadership roles, the responsibilities can be even more layered, balancing the safeguarding of children, supporting staff wellbeing, managing teams, and maintaining service quality can at times feel overwhelming.

Supervision is an essential part of sustaining ethical, effective, and compassionate practice, both individually and organisationally. It offers a safe and supportive space to reflect, debrief, and develop strategies for working with clients and colleagues. Just as importantly, it acknowledges the emotional and relational demands of caring roles, supporting wellbeing, resilience, and professional integrity.

In a field devoted to nurturing others, supervision ensures that practitioners themselves are nurtured, valued, and equipped to provide safe, responsive, and high-quality care.

My Approach to Supervision

I view supervision as a collaborative and reflective process that:

  • Supports ongoing professional growth and learning
  • Provides space for debriefing and emotional processing
  • Strengthens ethical decision-making and critical reflection
  • Builds confidence and capability
  • Helps prevent vicarious trauma and burnout
  • Encourages constructive feedback and gentle challenge

My approach is tailored to your role, experience, and professional context. It is grounded in trauma-informed principles, cultural safety, and an understanding of the systemic complexities that shape practice.

I offer both individual and group supervision for counsellors, caseworkers, early learning directors, and professionals across diverse sectors. Whether you are seeking to deepen your reflective practice, process complex cases, or sustain your wellbeing, supervision provides a confidential, supportive, and growth-oriented space for professional excellence.
